I do not find him anywhere in CS musters. The one H Barton was in the 13th Arkansas IN but this was an eastern Ark unit so don't think it was him. I do not find either of his sons in service either, William F age 17 in 1860 or Isaac M 13 in 1860. A Wm F was in Stirman's BN but that was from Carroll and Marion counties and not likely to be a Pope county boy from Dardanelle area. SO, if I was speculating, I would say somewhere along the lines, family passed on he was in service for the South since they probably didn't want to recognize his northern service. Just my guess. He might have served in some militia or independent company due to conscription or something but without docs cant say for sure.
