In Response To: 24th Ark Infantry, Co F ()

Willoughby Smith, Private, Company F, Portlock's Regiment, Arkansas Infantry,* enlisted June 21, 1862 at Washington, Arkansas for 3 years, recorded absent, sick October 31, 1862, last recorded present on the December 31, 1862 muster roll, no further records

Note: The next company muster was conducted at Camp Winder near Richmond April 30, 1863. Since there is no record of his presence, we can assume he was dropped from the rolls, reason could be by, death, discharge, capture, desertion, transfer, etc.

* This company subsequently became Company F, 24th Regiment Infantry

M317: Compiled Service Records of Confederate Soldiers Who Served in Organizations from the State of Arkansas

I do not find him in the Arkansas Confederate Veteran Pension index on-line, nor any other Arkansas organization.
