According to the OR's in January of 1864 just a few months prior to the Petrel capture, Owen's Arkanas Battery had 5- 6lb bronze guns and 1, 3.3 inch bronze gun. Owen's Battery was always placed in FErguson's Brigade and not Wirt Adams. But Adams had no artillery listed on April 30 1864 so I guess his battery, Robert's Btry, had been sent somewhere and he used Owen's Battery. By May 15th Adams states Owens has 2 guns disabled and the other 2 are worthless, so not sure what the issue was. I know that it was also stated to tell Ferguson that Owens did not take care of his battery horses as he should. I will have to look further as to why Ed Bearss states he had 2 10lb Parrots on the expedition.
