06 23 1865 Brig. Gen. Stand Watie, CSA, the Cherolee Indian Nation, surrenders his Confederate Foirces, comprised of Cherokee, Creek, Osage, and Creek Indians, at Doaksville, near Fort Townson, Indian Territory, later Oaklahoma. This surrender will comprise the last organized Confederate force to officially surrender.
