Bruce,

Here's a link to the grave. I think this may also be a different Batt Jones as it lists his birthdate at 1828. The Chicot County, Arkansas census records for 1860 list our Batt Jones as being 23 years old at time, making his birth year 1837 or thereabout. Interestingly, they list Georgia as his place of birth. I've attached quote from a March 7, 1884 newspaper account of his death which indicates the Batt Jones to which you refer was a lawyer (which the 1860 census records from Chicot County indicate was his occupation). It indicates he was indeed a lawyer but also indicates he spent the majority of his life in Georgia.

We have received the sad intelligence that Col. Bat Jones of Villa Rica, died
of Consumption in Atlanta on the night of the 4th inst. Col. Jones was well
known in western Georgia as a lawyer of ability and an influential citizen. He
was born near Villa Rica and in early life moved with his father Judge John A.
Jones to Polk county where he spent the greater part of his life. He married
the daughter of Henry Kingsberry of Polk county. To the bereaved widow and
relatives we extend our heartfelt sympathies.
