The main road was the Camden trail up to the east of Benton, however, the community of Merry Green (now Sheridan) was in existance and there was a minor road that connected it with Benton, crossing the main Camnden trail around the now Saline Grant Co line. But it was not any major civil war trail...also the road from Merry Green to Rockport via Prattsvill also existed but again, not a major thoroughfare.
