You're exactly correct on Rector not being governor in Jan. of 1865. The Lincoln imposed gov., Isaac Murphy was. But try convincing the Confederates of Ark. that
the legal governor of Ark. was Murphy, a Unionist. But back to your correct obser-
vation. The Kie-Oldham file which is in the Ar. Hist. Comm. contained several pieces of Confed. Ark. information. Another part of the file is a muster roll of the Lafayette
Guards, Capt. Dill's Co., part of the Ark. 6th Regt. dated May 20th, 1861. It is possible that I saw the note with the 6th Ar. Inf. muster roll and erroneously recorded it as appearing on the 11th Ar. Cav. muster roll. But I am very certain of the date of the 11th Cav. muster roll as Jan. 5, 1865. I have not done a thorough
search of all the names on the 11th roster, but, as in many other rosters at that late date of the war, most of the men appeared previously on other rosters earlier in the war. I discovered the file more that 10 years ago and made copies of some of the items and wrote notes on some of the items. I plan to re-visit the file in the future and do a more careful analysis.
