Lafayette County Volunteers

Hello All...
I am sorry to admit I do not know much about Military issues.
I am finding my search for my gggrandfather very difficult.
Am needing help.
I am looking for info. on my gggrandfather Joel Walker.
He was a confederate volunteer enlisted November 15th, 1863
Lafayette/Miller County.
He was honorably discharged about the 1st of July ,died the 10th of July,1864, don't know where. His widow's pension papers say he belonged to Company E under Capt. John Natan, Col. Red(?) Harrison & General Robert C. Shaver.
Can't seem to find out how to follow him. I would like to find out more. Since his widow applied for pension many years after the war ended(1897) I don't know how accurate the information is.
Can anyone help me find out how to find information enough to try to piece together what happened to him and where he may have died?
Got started late in life trying to find out information and all the family is gone that might help me.
My heart is heavy knowing the man gave so much and I can't find his story.
I am so confused about companies, brigades and transfers to different places I am lost.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you for listening.
Sunny
