Price's raid into Missouri

My Great-great grandfather, William J. Smith, of what was then Fulton County Arkansas, rode on Price's raid. He lived in the area now covered by Lake Norfork, so he probably joined at Pocahontas. At one time I had some information, but lost it. I need to know which outfit he was with, I believe he was a captain, but not sure. If he was in the CSA, earlier in the war, I would like to know which outfit he was with earlier. I know some of the men with Price had taken "French Leave" and weren't active when Price's raid was organized.
Also, all of my sources say that several groups of bushwhackers joined, or tried to join up with Price. Some he let join, some he reportedly rejected. Does anyone know which groups he let join, and which he rejected, and why? I know about Bill Anderson's bunch.
I am also searching for any information on any groups of bushwhackers in the Fulton(of which Baxter County was a part of)Marion, Izard, Stone, and Boone County areas. Also any groups of bushwhackers in Ozark, and Douglas County, Missouri. I have read material on Bill Dark of Stone County, Arkansas, as well as Cochran and Barker of Fulton County. Almost all the material I find relates to the bushwhackers who were active further north in Missouri, such as Taney and Christian Counties.
I have read some material about horse racing in this area, just prior to the war. I was wondering what happened to these race horses during the Civil War. I have copies of the books; "Searching for Booger County", "Life in the Leatherwoods", as well as "The History of Baxter County", so I have access to all the information in these books. I am also searching for information on the Irish Travelers, who were groups of traveling horse traders, who reportedly traveled across the south, including Arkansas, and what happened to them during the Civil War. I am working on a new book to be titled "Jesse Tabor's Foot". Also, my website is up, featuring my earlier books. Find me at www.joewsmith.com
