Bryan; thanks for answering. According to our sketchy family records, my G-G-Grandfather, William J. Smith was born 9-22-1836, and died 12-24-1912, he outlived 3 wives, who all died of TB. I'm guessing that he was a carrier, showing no symptoms. My G-G-Grandmother was Mary Jane Whitehead Smith. When Mary died, William married her younger sister, Nancy, and had another family, which included Dr. Jim B Smith of Texarkana. the Smiths moved from Tupelo, Miss. to what was then Fulton County, Arkansas in 1861, reportedly with the Talburts. Could you give me particulars on the 27th Arkansas, such as where they had fought before, and the names of the officers, etc? I could use anything on the 27th before or after Price's raid. Thanks, again. Joe W. Smith
