Re: Albert J Stroope - McNeill's Regiment

I could not find a record of his pension application which records his regiment as McNeill's.

The two pension abstracts I found contained no information re his organization other than Marbury's Company on one, and Company G on the other.

If he did serve with McNeill's 4th Louisiana Cavalry, we will not find a record of his service as no muster rolls for his regiment survived to be recorded in the National Archives Compiled Service Records.

The application for a tombstone, filed in 1938 by Robert Stroope, contained the following information:

enlisted September 1863, discharged June 15, 1865
(1) Company A?, Cavalry
(2) Company G, 11th Texas Infantry,

died March 12/15, 1937, buried at Copeland Ridge Cemetery, Curtis, Arkansas, tombstone ordered by Robt Stroope, Gurdon Route 2, Gurdon, Ark., shipped June 28, 1939

Census records show he was born ca 1846 in Arkansas, which would make him 17 in 1863 and subject to conscription.

I do not find him in the records for the 11th Texas Infantry, nor for Marbury.
