It appears you have a model which was manufactured fairly early in the weapon's existance. Approximately 127,000 of the Model 1860 Colt were issued. From 1860-1873 total production was over 200,000. As you see most went to the army. Your piece has a fairly low serial number. Judging by this,production was probably in 1861. This weapon should be looked at by one who is knowledgeable about the model 1860. From the description, this is a valuable itemespecially if it has military inspector's marks on it. If this weapon used in the field,and still is in good condition, as this one appears to be, it is a find.The Colt Firearms company would have records of their arms. You might try contacting them for information.
