I think Marc has the right idea as a picture is worth a thousand words. Without seeing it, it is hard to determine what it is. From what you stated as far as the markings are concerned, it does not sound like a reproduction. That being said, does it look like it has been converted from flintlock to percussion? You can tell if the nipple has been brazed into the area where a flashpan once was on the lock plate.
