Re: Sharpened Sabers -- Barbaric Practice?

This information comes from an odd source. On the History Channel is a show about a pawn shop in Las Vegas. Someone brought in a sword to sell, and an expert was contacted to validate the sword. It was made by Tiffany, and was a WBTS era sword. There were nicks in the blade consistant with cavalry combat. When asked about the blade being dull, rather than sharp, the expert explained that was the way they were made, as a sharp edge would cut too deeply and become stuck in the opponent's body. He did mention that some soldiers might have sharpened their blades after purchase. I realize this is an unusual source, but it is on point. (No pun intended.) Stan

BTW: Jim, if the entry font size was nearer to the same as the preview and post size, we might have fewer typos. Old eyes need larger type. Thanks. Stan
