Not to mention that loads of 1860s cloth was still around well after the war so dating the fibers themselves does not really prove when they were made into flags at all.

There is a LOT that goes into testing these flags and I would doubt that any lab in the USA comes close to doing what the lab that was used in Europe by TPA did for the flag work they performed. This is why TPA sent their tests to them.
