The lab that does my testing trained under Helmut Sweppe, the guy that did Fonda's, uses the same type of spectrometer and has the only copy of Swepps sample library. It is in essence the exact same test.
Regarding your note that testing only tests the materiel, not when it was put together is correct. The assembly period has to be done with microscopic examination.
