Re: Another 12th Corps Flag Captured

Reading on the Official Reports on Chancellorsville, Colonel Edward G. Haywood of the 7th NC Infantry was wounded "at the breastworks" and he took one or both flags with him back to his home. Confederate authorities sent him a message about the flag/flags.

I do not have any of my materials with me (In Afghanistan), but check "Google" and type in around the lines of "128th Pennsylvania, captured at Chancellorsville". Also try "7th North Carolina captured the 128th Pennsylvania".

The 128th Pennsylvania were short timers and were not risking life and limb at their last battle. "The regiment surrendered in mass".

Charles, checkout Dr. Richard Sauers book "Advance the Colors!" There are a number of Pennsylvania flags listed captured. A few I still do not know where or when they were captured. Such as the 83rd Pennsylvania and 99th Pennsylvania Infantry Regiments.

Have a good day, Charles

Shawn
