After reading through 384 rolls of film of war time newspapers, I disagree with you (historians often disagree). Personal and political comments have a place in the study of history. It is those comments that shape the state or course of diplomacy, today, yesterday, and will continue to do so, in war time and peace.
The Black Hills memorial has two Guidons, one in very bad shape, almost dust, a third would add greatly to the memorial. I don’t see your rejection of the idea that the Nations pool their money to buy the Guidon for the memorial.
I will be very surprised if it makes it to a million, half or less would be about right.
Happy Trails!
