I can see that point, but when these flags finally crumble into dust who will remember what they represent? We are a visual society now and only react to things we see. Seeing the flag of some regiment that did some amazing deed in a war is a tangible reminder of that heroism that can live on for generations if that flag is properly conserved. I just don't see that if the flag crumbles away.
