Greg
.. thanks for the input. This one at first glance appeared similar to the late war Mobile flags as far as the 12 star size and arrangement, but is square and other charactoristics and kit assembly design would lean to an ANV/Richmond. Yet the star number, and spacing didnt fit any other type exactly. Since Wise had been in NC but had also spent most all of 1863 and early 1864 guarding the marsh swamps outside Charleston SC.. (Most wanted to keep Wise as far away from Richmond as possible) It was a pondering thought from whom they may have drawn goods from. One photo of an officer of the 59th taken in 1864 when back in the state wearing an obvious Charleston style pattern frock coat... so Im sure they were a hodge-podge of mixed depot goods anyway. Since I had only seen others of this 12 star variant associated seemingly only with NC units thus the cause for inquiry. Thanks again
Frederick
