It seems that WD 542, ID'd as a flag of the 46th VA taken at Hatcher's Run, is not around. The US War department listing just shows this as #542 - battle flag - which I take to be an ANV flag of some bunting type.

I have a 2000 email from the late Howie Madaus and he told me then that he had no notes for this flag and hence no scale drawing in his files. If he has not seen it then who knows where it is.

An OR report for the regiment on the battles along the Dimmock Line in June, 1864 at Petersburg, states that their flag had 18 bullet holes in it.
