I have a report from one of my associates that he has found that Wheat's Battalion at 1st Bull Run/1st Manassas captured a NATIONAL flag!!! I asked him for the source, he emailed me and said that he misplaced it but he will find it. I will believe his word for he has never brought me a false report on any captured Union flags.

We are still not sure what Union regiment lost their "National Flag". Colonel Kershaw (2nd SC Regiment) reported in the Official Records that his men found a "Maine Flag". Howard had Three Maine regiments and the 2nd Maine fought against Hampton/5th VA. I have read a report that the Second Maine's flags were saved.

We will continue the search.
