I've followed your forum for some time, but never had anything to post until now. I'm a CS arms collector and have no "cloth" of any kind, but have recently acquired a 1st National in poor condition with holes, a few missing pieces and large tears. Would this flag be best left as is or restored? How does restoration affect value? As you know, with arms, it's a big no-no; if you find it in poor condition, it's best for it to stay that way. Is the same true for flags?

I have seen before/after pics of some flags done by Textile Pres., and they do look great. But does that enhance the value, detract from it, or is it a wash after considering the cost of the restoration?
