Fonda has since retired from the textile preservation business, but her letter may double the value of the flag in that it removes all uncertainty about its age. If she thought it was authentic and recommended preservation, then proper conservation and framing would enhance the flag's value.

I only have one tiny CS national flag from the period (see link below). The late Howie Madaus saw it at my home a few years ago and said it looked period to him, but I've nothing in writing except the little piece of paper that was pinned to the flag stating "Flag taken from Rebels jacket at Fredericksburg."
