Thats a subjective question and no one answer is correct, but the most important thing is conservation and caring for the relic to preserve and maintain its stability. What i would suggest is getting it authenticated by a textile expert and having it evaluted. Ive seen good restorations that are unobtrusive and bad ones that detract from the value. Less is more sometimes.
