While in no way wishing to demean the sacrifice made by any of those soldiers that fell at the Battle of Antietam, it should still be pointed out that the 23000 casualties mentioned in the article included killed, wounded and captured/missing. The actual number of those killed, both North and South, totaled approximately 3650. Although it may be overly pendantic on my part, this confusion over the definition of "casualties" seems to be all too common in today's media.
