This came from the work that Lee White and Jim Ogden and I did with flag captures at Chattanooga based on troop locations and who came up where. Ogden said that the Federals came up in pretty straight lines with little variance to that due to the potential of crowding units out to either flank. This project took two days and I sent the results to the FFS when it was done. This was years ago.
