There was no need for your "excuse" comment.I will apologize if anything I posted led you to make that comment-wasn't my intention. What ever happened with Southerners proudly practicing polite civil discourse(Southern Gentlemen)?? I think there have been such volume of fake artifacts that many have become jaded and suspicious.
I cannot figure out how to post pictures/scans on this site, will post scans of the documentation on the other site and possibly Stroupe will post here for me. This flag is old, either a 1860's flag or reenactment flag. The material, especially the white field , is a waxy'ish super thin material. I first thought it was silk due to weight, possibly cotton with a wax substance applied. Also, the blue bars not having the white border seems something forgers would not do.
Back to Pink Palace: those of us with families that have lived in Memphis for generations have witnessed the changes that have and are taking place in our city. I am not as concerned about the expert at the museum as much as a lower level employee being "traumatized" by my bringing in a Confederate flag to a city owned facility and filing a complaint. Current day Memphis is not the place to be showing a confederate flag, you have to live here to understand. Doesn't mean I won't eventually do this, but my preference would be to find an expert and send flag and documents to be authenticated.Would gladly pay for authentication.
