Ken,

The documents are at the National Archives in the payroll vouchers for the depot. There are sets for several CS depots including Staunton, Richmond and Macon. Les Jensen has seen some of these and Robert Davis, an expert on Macon in the war, has cited these vouchers in an essay he wrote on Macon, which is how I found out about those. I also talked to Mr. Davis, who is the guy that runs Hanceville, AL university library research center by the way, about them.

I have never been through them but from what Les told me those for Richmond alone were quite large. They are on the list of things to do someday.

Madaus had no problem with what Les told him on these vouchers and based his research on them and from what units they were captured from or belonged to - and all had 1864 Valley connections.
