Staunton Depot
In Response To: Re: Third Winchester flags ()

Gents,

While scrolling through the Citizens & Business files at the National Archives some years ago I came across the payroll vouchers for a woman who worked at the Staunton Depot. Her vouchers were for uniform related items, not flags, but this tells me that there may be more like these in C & B. This would be in addition to the vouchers at the NA. I did make note of her name I believe in my C & B notes.

Robert Davis, as I stated, cited in a footnote for his essay on Macon, GA in the war, the payroll vouchers at the NA for that depot stating, among things being made there, flags.

These payroll vouchers are a long lost source for all sorts of things made by the Confederacy. Les and Davis are the only two people I have talked to that have been into them on any level.
