Jim,

The battle flag of the Army of Central Kentucky, based in Bowling Green for a time, was the original Buckner designed Hardee pattern flag. This was blue with a white circle in the middle and a white hoist edge. These flags first saw combat at Fort Donelson where part of Buckner's Division as sent in February, 1862. The flags were presented in January 1862 and made by a local ladies sewing circle in Bowling Green that included Mrs. Buckner and others including the wife and daughters of the man who rented his house to Gen. Albert Sidney Johnston for his HQ.
