There IS a historical basis for the McCown/Army of Kentucky pattern battle flag indeed and three of these exist today.

But the flag at issue was listed as the flag of the Army of Central Kentucky, a completely different command and with the blue and white circle/moon battle flag that we all know of. Evidently a Wikipedia page had a variant of the McCown flag showing for the flag of the Army of Cental Kentucky which is completely incorrect.

It also had stars on the crossed bars something which none of the three McCown flags have.
