Re: 1st Georgia Reserves (Fannin's)

Alan,
Great news about Fannin being at Fort Tyler!! I have a letter written to the National Tribune of June 5, 1902. The author, a fellow named C. D. McNeill claims to have been
a member of "Fannings Sharpshooters". He also claims that his unit's flag was lost there. He describes it as having
"three broad bars and 11 stars riddled with many minnie balls and shells". I could not identify "Fannings Sharpshooters"; but have a feeling that McNeill's fading
memory turned FANNIN into Fannings.
Can you supply anymore info on Fannin's letter?
