I wish I did! The only thing that I know about it is that it is from the old Gunther Collection of the late 1800's. Gunther was one of the first CW artifacts collectors and he built his own musuem to display them in. He went around buying stuff all over the North and South for the museum.

I forget when he died but his collection was considered so impressive that the Chicago Historical Society went into hock in (I think) the 1920's to buy it for their collections.

They actually have a number of CS flags although some were de-acessioned in the 1980's to other museums (like the Milwaukee Public Museum).

Judging from the ornateness of the 34th's flag, it was done with great care and by someone that had fine embroidery skills, which many women of the era had. Until I can find a contemporary newspaper account of it, if one even exists) that's all I have.
