Re: Seeking Info On Thomas C. Prescott of GA Milit

I have no idea if this might help, but the father of Mrs. Emma J.S. Prescott lived in Russell County, Alabama in 1865. Though well over military age (approx 65 years old), he volunteered to assist in the defense of Columbus, Georgia when it was attacked by Wilson's Raiders in 1865. I may be way off with this one, but the name rang a bell, and the location makes it plausable that he might have been listed with the Georgia troops hastily assembled in that city. A genealogist should be able to tell you more if the grave dates don't help eliminate this person as a possibility.
Again, I realize this is a long shot, and have no idea if it is of any help. Please don't blast me over the differences between militia/reserves/homeguards/etc/etc.
