As part of an organization that researches the history behind what is now the Lake Russell Wildlife Management Area near Currahee Mountain, I am quite familiar with the Battle of the Narrows. In fact, there is a painting of the battle which was produced by an artist who was taken there by the U.S. Forest Service District Ranger. That Ranger was told of the incident by a descendant of one who was witness to the event.
I have a blog "Stories of the LRWMA" and on that blog, one of the topics is this battle and I even have a photo of the painting.
