Re: S. House, Co. D, 1st GA Cavalry

I cant give specific info but the 1st Georgia was in Kirby Smiths column during the Kentucky Campaign of 1862.On August 29-30 1862 they were engaged in the Battle of Richmond,Ky.There all cavalry regiments were under command of Colonel John S.Scott.The 1st was heavily engaged on the 29th with the 55th Indiana Infantry Regiment. At least four were killed and several wounded.Saturday the 30th they were part of the cavalry force that flanked union lines behind the town of Richmond and set up an ambush. As Union troops were retreating they ran headlong into this ambush. The end result was over 4000 very unhappy Union prisoners.
