My grandfather, Jesse Madison Martin, was a bugle boy in the Civil War and was in one of Wade Hampton's units. He was from Bulloch County, GA, and was only 14 or 15 years old. He died when my father was very young so I have very little information. If anyone knows anything about him, I would appreciate hearing from you. The family story is that he got separated from his unit and was with a companion trying to reconnect with it. They met someone along the way who told them the war was over, so he just decided to walk back home to Bulloch County, GA.
