T P. Edmondson enlisted as a 2nd Lieutenant in Captain John Oates Company, Howard's Cavalry Battalion**May 16, 1862 at Spring Place, Georgia,

**This company subsequently became Company F, 3rd Regiment Confederate Cavalry, promoted Captain July 31, 1863, recorded on leave March 4, 1864

Record of Events

August 31,1863 to January 18,1863 Stationed near Shelbyville, Tennessee

December 31, 1862 to April 30, 1863 Stationed at Smithville, Tennessee

April 30 to December 31, 1863 Stationed at Varnell Station

Engaged the enemy at Philadelphia, Tennessee on the 20 October 1863 succeeded in routing them. On the 20 November 1863 the command attacked a wagon train sixteen miles beyond Knoxville, Tennessee. Succeeded in capturing it. This train was loaded with clothing.

January & February 1864 Stationed at Tunnel Hill

May & June 1864, dated July 4, 1864 Stationed near Marietta [GA]

Engaged the enemy at Resaca on the 14 of May 1864 and drove them from the field.

Was attacked by the enemy on noon day O'clock?? on the 16 of June & repulsed them.
