Marvin, Since you are going thru the Valley, I would suggest stopping at the "New Market Battlefield". We were up there in May and stopped on the trip home, but unfortunately we did not get to see much of the battlefield because a reenactment was being set up and there were people everywhere. It is very easy to get to, and there are a couple of museums also. It is with in sight of I-81 and there are markers to let you know where to get off the interstate.
