The Ganns in this area are Uncles and Cousins that moved from Clarke County when Indian land opened up. I am quite familiar with (the beautifuly restored) Gann house, as well as cemeteries in the area such as the Old Concord Baptist. Supposedly when the Union Army broke through this area, Senator John Gann had a Free Mason (Shriner) symbol on his wall, and when the federal officer in charge saw this he spared his home from the torch.
