In regard to undocumented claims of Civil War service, I found a statement that "he served in the Civil War". After extensive research and help from many others, I found that he was a member of the Immortal 600 and was voted the Medal of Honor by the men in his company for heroic action in the battle where he was captured. The fact that perhaps I prevented the loss of this information to posterity made my work worthwhile.
I was of the opinion that the Soldiers/Sailors web site was fairly complete, but your data just disproved my opinion.
I started a project years ago to extract the information available from various web sites of individual's CSR;s who served in the 13th/16th Battalion, Georgia Calvary. This is a huge undertaking; I sometimes find at least three or more individual spellings of the name of the same individual on the various sites, but by analyzing the data I usually can eliminate the incorrect spelling. At the present time, I have completed roughly 60% of the task. This project is probably extending my useful life, I am 82 and need at least 20 more years to complete the job.
In your opinion, is the majority of Lillian Henderson's work acceptable?
Thanks very much for you assistance.
