Re: Federal dead buried at Newnan

Alan, I think some were moved to Marietta. As I said in my previous post there are 2 buried locally. One in Glenn, Ga. he was found by a farmer close to Rock Mills, Al. he did not have any wounds, but everyone believes he died from exertion from lack of food and sleep during Gen. McCooks long ride from Cambellton. After several days of tearing up rail lines, they had to fight their way back around Newnan trying to get to the Chattahoochee River to cross and make their way back to Sherman's lines close to Dallas. The other one was wounded at Philpot's Ferry, and taken in by a lady living near there, she tried to take care of him but he died, she buried him just outside her fence. I am sure the Federals knew nothing about these two men, so their graves were not moved.
