The Georgia in the Civil War Message Board

Re: Color Sgt.Fuller (Phillip's Legion)

Ken,

I came across some data on members of the 19th Georgia "Color-Guard":

Color Corporals {from Company "E" 19th Georgia Infantry}

Knight, William -- Private - June 26, 1861. Appointed Color Corporal. Killed at Fredericksburg, Virginia December 13, 1862

Johnson, Benjamin F. -- Private - June 26, 1861. Appointed Color Corporal. Received monthly pay from May 1 to December 31, 1862. No later record

Nixon, John A. -- Private - June 26, 1861. Appointed Color Corporal. Died in Huguenot Springs, Virginia hospital January 15, 1862.

I also came upon a message on Ancestry.com message Boards; it mentions the capture of the 19th's flag at Fredericksburg{which we all know is incorrect}I have also seen the various historical accounts; digitalized on Google Book search, stating that the flag-bearer was killed; or that the flag was wrestled from the fleeing color-bearer. Even though the accounts stating it was the "19th Georgia" is untrue; i'll post this data for your reading pleasure
