Just read an Obit on Rev. James Garland Lane the Pastor of the First Pres. Church in Tuscumbia Al. ( 1880's )
He was with Capt.A. Keller when he found out his daughter was blind " Helen Keller "
James Garland Lane b/ 26 Nov1841 Ga Power Springs Cobb Co. d/ 27 Oct.1920 New York
buried in Tuscumbia Alabama's Oakwood Cemetery. In his obit it said he was studying to be a Minister when the
War broke out and he joined a Confederate unit. First Church was at Chickamauga Ga. later came to Tuscumbia
then on to Ms. then to Texas retired New York with Daughter.
Can anybody help me come up with a unit number, 18th Ga. Co. D. is the closest I can find but not having
micro film on Ga. Units here I don't know.
