James Garland Lane was off my line of Lane's. James G. Lane was named after his grandfather, James Lane, a rev war vet, and his gr-uncle, Garland Lane (my ancestor), who both lived in Wilkes County, Georgia. James Garland Lane had a half brother named Thomas Willis Lane who also served with him in Co. D 18th Georgia. Thomas was also in the hospital at City Point, Va with a gunshot wound to the thigh along with James. My guess is they were both wounded together. I have done a lot of research on this family and would be more than willing to share it with you.
