Thanks Mr Martin, I was not aware that the 10th battalion had became the 9th battalion, so maybe this will be another avenue that I can look into. Every bit of information helps.
John D. Carpenter had a son that was older than John R., Thomas H., also joined the Confederate Army but no records have been found about him either. It is sad that these two brothers have been lost to family members now living
