Re: H.Z. DAY Co A 2nd Regt Ga State Troops

Mark --

Three years or the war was a standard term for Confederate soldiers enrolled from April 1862 forwward. However, State Guards were not in Confederate service and served for six months, approximately August 1863 to January 1864. No record of anyone named Day in either the 2nd State Guards Battalion or the 2nd State Guards Cavalry.

Are any officers or witnesses for service named in the application? Do you know this man's full name? Cannot locate a man named Day first name starting with H on the 1900 census of Gwinett County GA.

Bottom line - cannot identify this man in public or military records. Can you provide more specific information?
