Alan, thank you very much for the information. It was very helpful and I will include it in my research on the old relative. I have other relatives who were "Citizen Confederates", one of which ran a salt peter mine in Shellmound, Tenn., and other who fought for the Confederacy with the 6th Alabama, and the 3rd Cavalry in Tennessee. I have a long list of Union ancestors too, but they aren't nearly so interesting. Thanks again, Shirley
