I believe Confederate #4 is James "Jim" Lawshe. I don't have any idea where "Daddy Skene" comes from.
Jim Lawshe was convicted multiple times of counterfeiting silver coins. In this instance he served five years (1895-1900) of an eight year sentence in the Ohio Penitentiary then returned to Atlanta where he died the following year. The notice of his death in the Atlanta Constitution called him one of Atlanta's most noted characters. Newspaper accounts over three decades implicate him in various shootings, burglary, attempted jail break, and running large number of cattle through someone's cotton crop.
